Cocoa Beans in india

...In India cocoa cultivation was started long years back. The variety of cocoa planted by Britishers was "Criolla". It was not on a commercial basis. Culivation on a commercial scale started from 1970. Newly cultivated cocoa was of forestero variety. Now nearly 24,000 hectors of land is under cocoa cultivation. India produces nearly 20,000 M.Tons of cocoa beans annually. Out of this, 14,000 M.tons of cocoa is required for internal consumption. Nearly 5000 to 6000 Tons of cocoa beans are being exported to other countries.
